Worldsteel releases new global data on the environmental performance of steel.
The World Steel Association (worldsteel) has released its 2017 global and regional steel life cycle inventory (LCI) data. The datasets provide the most accurate and comprehensive data on the environmental profile of 16 key products.

The 16 key steel products* are used in a broad spectrum of industries: from construction, automotive and shipbuilding to home appliances, machinery and packaging. The LCI data can be used by our customers in life cycle assessment (LCA) studies for material decision making and product design. The data enables a full life cycle approach to be utilised when determining the environmental impact of steel-containing products, including their carbon and water footprints.

The worldsteel database is the global benchmark standard for life cycle data on steel because it is obtained directly from steel producers worldwide, follows international standards on LCA and undergoes thorough data checks.

The data is available free of charge on request via worldsteel.org.
